After a live video feed captured two Georgia pre-school instructors mistreating little kids, they were jailed.
One instructor is shown treading on a child’s fingers and then bumping another pupil with her knee from behind. Another instructor can be seen pushing a student’s head back with her finger after getting in the child’s face.
The event was seen by parents who were monitoring a live broadcast of the classroom.
Roswell police detained Zeina Alostwani, 40, and Soriana Briceno, 19, on allegations of cruelty to minors.
At the Parker-Chase preschool in Roswell, the event occurred in a 3-year-old classroom. Two parents were present at the time.
Gloria Barghi, a mom, said, “I saw it but I was like, ‘No, I didn’t see that.”
She and her father, Brant Duncan, hurried to the school and asked that the teachers remove the children from the classroom. The parents of the victims and the police were called.
One of the victims’ parents, who did not want to be named, also came up.
Since the arrests, several more victims have come forward, and a wider investigation is ongoing.
Officers will go back several weeks to evaluate tape to determine if there are any additional incidents of suspected abuse, according to a Roswell police representative.
The teachers were sacked, according to the pre-school, because of improper disciplinary actions.
“While we are grateful that the children are doing well, this is a serious matter for us, and our investigation is ongoing.” The school added, “We expect our staff to adhere to the highest standards of care, and any failure to do so will not be tolerated.”
Alostwani was given a $75,000 bail on Tuesday, while Briceno was denied one due to her asylum and immigration status.
