NHL Official Carried Out On Stretcher After Plexiglass Falls On His Head

An exhilarating moment turned terrifying when an off-ice NHL official was taken away on a stretcher during a Boston Bruins game Friday night after a plexiglass pane collapsed on his head.

During Game 3 of the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes playoff series at TD Garden, a big piece of plexiglass struck Joe Foley in the penalty box.

Fans exploded inside the arena as Bruins right wing David Pastrák scored a goal to give the team a 3-1 lead.

Footage shows Foley being surrounded by jubilant supporters who slam the glass into him, forcing a chunk to fall on him.

Other officials hurried over to Foley’s help when he slumped over in pain, causing the game to be delayed.

Foley was treated by medical personnel and was aware when he fled the arena, according to reports. His current state is unclear.

“Our thoughts are with the NHL off-ice official who was injured,” the Bruins said in a statement after defeating the Hurricanes 4-2. We extend him our warmest greetings.”
