The investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden’s international business connections was described as “a top priority” for the GOP in the next Congress by House Republicans on Thursday as they unveiled their plans.
Republicans will look into “all avenues” of the Biden family’s economic activities in China and Ukraine, according to Rep. James Comer (R, Ky.), who will serve as chair of the House Oversight Committee in 2019. Comer claimed that by asserting that he never discussed business with his son, President Biden was lying.
Republicans are starting a thorough inquiry while Hunter Biden is the subject of an ongoing FBI investigation. Biden has been under investigation by federal prosecutors since 2018 for alleged tax evasion and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act. However, rumors have caused some people to worry that the younger Biden will get off lightly. Authorities are reportedly considering charging Biden with crimes relating to his taxes and a shooting in 2018.
Republicans said they are worried about both the possible hazards to national security as well as the possibility that Joe Biden may have lied about his involvement in his son’s business.
According to a Republican congressional investigation released on Thursday, there is evidence that President Joe Biden took part in and profited from these business operations directly, making him vulnerable to influence, blackmail, or extortion by bad or foreign organizations like the CCP.

Hunter Biden’s involvement with CEFC China Energy, an energy company with connections to Chinese intelligence, will be a key focus of the investigation. In 2017, the business paid Hunter Biden at least $6 million to look for energy investment opportunities. A further $1 million was paid to Biden to represent a CEFC executive accused of attempting to buy mining concessions in Africa with bribes.
Tony Bobulinski, a longtime business associate of Hunter’s, has made text conversations public, revealing that in 2017, he met with Hunter and Joe Biden to propose a lucrative contract with CEFC.
In order to enhance their financial interests, Hunter Biden and his business associates frequently lobbied federal agencies. The Biden consortium pushed the State Department in 2015 to establish ties with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a front organization for the Chinese Communist Party, in order to facilitate the entry of their investment fund into China.
Hunter Biden’s bank records will be requested once more by the committee, according to Comer, and they will reveal whether the Bidens were corrupted or influenced by foreign currency. The Biden administration, according to Comer, has rejected congressional requests for 150 Suspicious Activity Reports that banks lodged against Hunter Biden for questionable bank transactions.
Comer gave an overview of the two suspicious activity reports that the committee looked at. One concerned wire transactions made by Biden to an escort service. Another reported 93 wires totalling $2,461,962 that involved Biden’s actions in China between February 2014 and August 2019.
Last Monday, President Biden scoffed at Republican proposals to look into his son, telling reporters that the American people wanted us to go on.
