In Virginia, a middle school teacher was detained on suspicion of child pornography.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children informed authorities that someone with a Snapchat account connected with a Fairfax County IP address had child sexual abuse material.

After a deeper investigation, detectives discovered that the Snapchat account belonged to a teacher at Irving Middle School in Springfield, Virginia.

According to Fairfax County police, a general science teacher named Kristine Knizner had child sexual assault content on her Snapchat account.

Child pornography, including photographs and videos, was discovered on numerous of the teacher’s social media platforms.

A search warrant was executed by detectives. Knizner was the only one who lived there.

Knizner was brought to the Adult Detention Center after being detained and charged with two charges of possessing child pornography. On a $2,000 unsecured bail, she was freed.

Knizner’s students do not appear to be among the victims, according to authorities.

Knizner’s residence in Springfield was linked to the IP address, according to an inquiry. Knizner was the lone inhabitant of the house when detectives executed a search warrant.

“While investigators have not identified any offenses involving FCPS students,” the school wrote in a letter to parents, “FCPS is cooperating with police as they investigate this serious matter.”

Knizner taught at Key Middle School before coming to Irving Middle School.

Major Ed O’Carroll stated in a statement released by the Fairfax County Police Department News, “I greatly appreciate the work of our Major Crimes, Cyber, and Forensics detectives and analysts. These crimes have no place in our society, and certainly not in Fairfax County,” says the prosecutor.

The agency frequently receives tips from the NCMEC, according to O’Carroll.
