Someone in the Biden administration thinks repealing Title 42, which allows for easier deportation of illegal immigrants, would be a good idea. Furthermore, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security may be searching for ways to expedite the release of illegal immigrants.
According to a senior source within the Department of Homeland Security, the department has established a tentative deadline of April 1, 2022, to abolish the emergency CDC migrant removal power, Title 42. The agency is hurrying to deal with the major migration event expected to hit the US/Mexico border as a result of the action, according to the source.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is ready for a surge of migrants at the southern border, and is preparing to implement reaction plans that include strengthening capacity to quickly process and, in most cases, speed up the release of migrants into the US on a scale not seen before.
More than 62,500 illegal aliens and border crossers were released into the United States’ interior in January of this year, a foreign community more than double that of Princeton, New Jersey; roughly twice the size of Lexington, Massachusetts; and much more than six times the size of Jackson, Wyoming.
While many Democrats have lobbied Biden to repeal Title 42, others have urged him to reconsider. Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly have encouraged the administration to keep Title 42 in place.
They urge the government not to make any changes to Title 42 rollout until they are wholly capable of executing and integrating a holistic plan that ensures a stable, organized, and compassionate process at the border, given the potential impacts on border communities, border security, and migrants.
