For months, Russia has had 100,000 troops stationed on Ukraine’s border and has threatened to go to war with them.
Russia is stepping up its military deployment, sending troops and armor to Belarus, just a few miles from the Ukrainian border, for joint military drills that begin Feb. 10. Belarus will also receive two divisions of S-400 air defense systems, according to Russia’s Defense Ministry.
It is clear now that one of the main concentration points for Russian troops arriving in Belarus is the Rechitsa-Kalinkovichi-Mozyr-Yelsk triangle in the southeast near the Ukrainian border, despite the fact that the drills are to take place elsewhere – in the west and northwest. pic.twitter.com/KFatIBtbMu

With a massive gaffe suggesting that he wouldn’t have a strong reaction if the Russians merely performed a tiny incursion, Joe Biden seemed to bring that threat into even clearer emphasis. Even the White House clean-up operation understated how they would respond to paramilitary activity, implying that NATO states would not respond militarily. Many of Russia’s actions against Ukraine in 2014 were carried out by paramilitary soldiers.
When asked on Thursday if Biden had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after Biden’s alarming comments, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded no, demonstrating how little respect he has for people.
The White House is reportedly considering a plan to get the diplomats’ families out of Ukraine.
Given their failure to judge what was going on in Afghanistan, I’m not sure what kind of intelligence or response they’ll have in this situation if things quickly intensify.
.@PressSec on possible plan to evacuate Americans from Ukraine: "We are already at a level 4 travel advisory for Ukraine for COVID and have been advising that U.S. citizens should be aware of reports that Russia's planning for significant military action against Ukraine." pic.twitter.com/FhP2SlxGnL
