If Republicans perform well in the upcoming midterm elections, top advisers to former President Donald Trump have proposed the third week of November as the best starting point for his 2024 presidential campaign, according to sources familiar with the situation.

According to two individuals, Trump’s team has specifically considered November 14 as a probable announcement date. This date would coincide with President Joe Biden’s long-planned overseas trip to Asia. Even if the GOP performs better than expected on Election Night, sources said Trump is unlikely to make the announcement before that Monday in order to avoid overshadowing his daughter Tiffany’s wedding on November 12 at Mar-a-Lago and because he does not want to share a news cycle with the midterm results.

These sources however noted that no time has been set, and Trump might postpone it if the Senate’s majority is still up for grabs after Election Day or if Republicans only make marginal wins in their House fights. Trump’s team is still debating whether to make the announcement close to home in Palm Beach, Florida, where he has based his political operation since leaving Washington, or in a Rust Belt battleground state like Ohio or Pennsylvania, according to a person familiar with the situation. Discussions about where Trump should announce his next run for the White House have taken place.

Trump has begun making overt references to running for office in recent rallies. For illustration, during his Iowa event on Thursday, Trump urged the crowd to “get ready,” saying:

“I ran twice. I won twice, and did much better the second time than I did the first, getting millions more votes in 2020 than I got in 2016. And likewise, getting more votes than any sitting president in the history of our country by far. And now in order to make our country successful, and safe and glorious. I will very, very, very probably do it again. Very soon. Get ready.”
