When Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, misspoke about the specifics of a school massacre in Nashville, Tennessee, a White House reporter corrected her directly in front of her.

At least three children and three adults were slain on Monday when an active shooter, a 28-year-old woman, entered Covenant School through a side door, according to authorities. The suspect was shot and killed by police after they found her on the second floor of the structure.

Jean-Pierre misrepresented the victims after learning the details of the catastrophe.

“We can’t keep seeing what we saw today. Right now, we’re hearing six kids — six elementary [school] kids dead,” Jean-Pierre stated.

“Three kids and three adults,” a reporter immediately corrected her.

At least two assault-style rifles and a handgun were used by the shooter, who has not yet been officially named, and started shooting on the first and second levels of the building, according to police. At 10:27 a.m., police encountered her and killed her.

Republicans were blamed by Jean-Pierre at the beginning of the briefing for rejecting an assault weapons prohibition.

“He wants Congress to act. Because enough is enough. In his State of the Union, the president called on Congress to do something, to stop the epidemic of gun violence that is tearing families apart, tearing communities apart. How many more children have to be murdered before Republicans in Congress will step up and act to stop the assault weapons ban?”

Following a string of horrific shootings that have taken place during his reign, President Joe Biden has repeatedly vowed to outlaw “assault rifles.”

In the previous two years, there have been a number of significant mass shootings, most notably in a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and a Lunar New Year celebration in Monterey Park, California.
