Raisins Recalled for Undeclared Ingredients

Eltahan, a brand owned by USA Hookah, LLC, of Paterson, New Jersey, is recalling 400 gm packages of its Golden Raisins due to possible undeclared sulfite contamination.

Consuming these products increases the risk of a serious or fatal allergic reaction in those with sulfite allergies or severe sensitivity.

Retail outlets in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York provided consumers with Eltahan Gold Raisins.

The 400 gram clear plastic package containing the recalled Eltahan Golden Raisins bears the UPC 2337660022. On the bottom right corner of the front label, the product is labeled with a production date of January 2023 and a best by date of January 20, 2026.

The product was distributed in packaging that concealed the presence of sulfites, but routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed sulfites in the product. This discovery prompted the recall. Investigations conducted later show that the issue was brought on by a brief malfunction in the company’s packaging and production procedures.

The FDA and the company have decided to halt production and distribution of the product until they are satisfied that the issue has been resolved.

It is recommended that customers who have purchased Eltahan Golden Raisins return them to the original retailer for a complete refund. Customers can email the business at info@eltahan.com with any questions.

As of yet, no illnesses have been reported.
