The star of a well-liked reality TV show perished following what seemed to be a capsize in his own fishing vessel. When the tragedy occurred, the star of “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” went out with a friend and his pet dog. Both his dog and his body were found by the authorities, but it is still unclear where the other boat occupant went.

According to the Outer Banks Voice, on March 4, the US Coast Guard discovered Charlie Griffin’s and his dog Leila’s bodies on the shores of Pea Island. They think the 35-foot boat belonging to the TV personality, which they discovered nearby, overturned when it was approaching Oregon Inlet. They had departed from somewhere in Virginia and were traveling to Wanchese, North Carolina. The search was started by the authorities when the vessel failed to arrive on time.

The other passenger in the boat is still being sought after by the authorities. The US Coast Guard, National Park Service, Dare County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Marine Fisheries, and US Fish and Wildlife are all lending support to the inquiry, which is being led by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.

The news of Griffin’s passing was also announced on the Reels of Fortune Wicked Tuna Facebook page, which urged followers to send their condolences to his friends and family. They merely stated that the actor and his cherished dog had died in a “boating accident,” providing no other information about the tragedy. They continued by saying they would always remember “Griff.”

National Geographic and the “Wicked Tuna” production company, Pilgrim Media Group, jointly sent a statement to Entertainment Weekly. It expressed the sorrow of the companies on Griffin’s demise and referred to him as “a spirited fisherman with a big heart.”

“Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” tracked teams searching the perilous waters off the coast of North Carolina for the highly sought-after bluefin tuna. In the second through fifth seasons of the show, Griffin and his group, the Reels of Fortune, were featured.
