As President Joe Biden’s approval ratings decline, Democrats are considering alternative candidates for the upcoming November elections. Nevertheless, Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, has unequivocally stated that she will not enter the race.

According to a recent Rasmussen survey published on Monday, February 26th, 48% of Democratic voters expressed support for replacing Biden with a different candidate before the November election. Additionally, 47% indicated that they find it “likely” for the DNC to select another candidate to replace Biden before the election. Within this group, 22% perceive it as “very likely” for Biden to be replaced. However, 45% of surveyed Democratic voters do not believe that Democrats will succeed in finding a replacement for Biden, suggesting that he will remain the candidate for November.

Among the Democratic voters surveyed, 20% selected Michelle Obama as their preferred candidate to replace Biden. Vice President Kamala Harris ranked second with 15%, while former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, garnered 12% of the votes. Additionally, 11% of the surveyed voters expressed support for California Governor Gavin Newsom as a potential replacement for Biden.

Michelle Obama has consistently emphasized that she has no intentions of pursuing a political career for herself. In a 2019 interview with “The National,” a magazine published by Amtrak, she categorically stated that there is no possibility of her running for office. She expressed her belief that there are alternative avenues to contribute to the betterment of America, and that’s where she is directing her efforts and focus.

Despite the speculation suggesting that voters may desire her as a replacement for Biden, Michelle Obama’s communications director, Crystal Carson, emphasized once again that the former First Lady has no intentions of seeking any political office, including the presidency. Carson also affirmed that Ms. Obama remains supportive of President Biden and Vice President Harris.

Since her husband’s departure from office, Michelle Obama has remained actively engaged in various endeavors. Notably, she authored a memoir that achieved the status of the best-selling book in 2018. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in establishing a non-profit organization named When We All Vote, collaborating with notable figures such as Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Janelle Monáe.
