As per a report from Fox News on January 1, a collision occurred in New York City, resulting in severe injuries to approximately nine individuals who were part of a New Year’s Eve celebration near Madison Square Garden. The conservative network highlighted that the New York Police Department has already apprehended a suspect in connection with the incident.

In an official statement, authorities from the New York City Fire Department reported that the occurrence occurred at the intersection of 9th Avenue and West 34th Street. They highlighted that the incident was categorized as a “mass casualty” event due to the substantial number of victims. Various accounts indicated that the driver of the car veered onto a sidewalk, bringing the vehicle to a stop and striking numerous individuals, including some police officers.

Responding to the scene at West 33rd Street and 7th Avenue, officers from the New York Police Department observed a physical altercation between the suspect and another individual. A spokesperson for the police, speaking to the conservative network, disclosed that the suspect involved in the dispute is a 44-year-old male.

Upon the police officers’ attempt to intervene, the suspect promptly entered his vehicle, colliding with police vehicles and crashing them into a nearby food truck, trapping a girl beneath it. Officials conveyed that the injured female was swiftly taken to Bellevue Hospital, and as of the latest update, she is in stable condition.

Footage of the occurrence depicts a chaotic scene on the street, with officers examining the situation and apprehending the suspect. Several media sources reported that upon apprehension, the suspect was transported to Bellevue Hospital due to serious injuries. Presently, he is reported to be in stable condition.

The area displays a sight of scattered debris on sidewalks and pavement. Three members of the NYPD sustained significant injuries in the occurrence but are presently in stable condition. This incident occurred subsequent to the publication of a statement by the NYPD, expressing their efforts to ensure the safety of crowds in Times Square during festivities.
