There are allegations against the vice president of an opulent resort for abusing a teenage girl in Disney World. The waiter allegedly told John Munro he couldn’t seat with other patrons and cited a restaurant dress rule, so he hit her. He disputes the transgression.
A 19-year-old hostess at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort’s Citricos restaurant encountered a difficult patron on November 19, 2023. John Munro, 64, was dressed in swimsuit shorts and a T-shirt despite the restaurant’s dress code, which requests attire that complements its elegant and refined style. In addition, he was obviously inebriated and the fourth person to come at a table set for three.
Munro appeared to understand when the hostess informed him that he didn’t fit the dress code, but he still promised to stay with the group until they were seated. She consented, but Munro followed her to their table.
Then, since it was her birthday and Munro was making her look bad, one of the group requested her not to let him join them. Munro gave the hostess three forehead slaps while reading her name off her tag after she informed him he wouldn’t be able to take a seat.
Despite not being hurt during the attack, the hostess reported it to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies apprehended Munro without delay, determined that he was intoxicated, and placed him under custody. He was given a $1,000 bond and freed the next morning. He has a court appearance scheduled on February 16 to face violence charges. He is currently entering a not guilty plea to the crime.
Munro works as a vice president of Hilton Head, South Carolina’s upscale Sea Pines Resort. He has now been put on administrative leave, according to the resort, while this personnel issue is investigated.
