Grieving Mom Blames Dem’s No-cash Bail For Daughter’s Death

According to the mother of a 30-year-old Buffalo woman who was brutally murdered by her estranged husband, Gov. Kathy Hochul shared equal blame for the crime with the shooter.

Keaira Bennefield’s mother talked about how her daughter died on October 5 in an execution-style incident when Adam Bennefield allegedly rammed into her car, drew a shotgun, and killed her.

Less than 24 hours prior to the murder, Adam Bennefield—who had brutally beaten Keaira in an on-camera attack—had been sprung out of prison.

According to Keaira Hudson’s mother Tammy Hudson, Hochul’s support for New York’s no-cash-bail statute was directly responsible for Keaira’s gruesome demise.

“She should be charged for the crime. She’s also responsible for the crime,” Hudson said.

Hochul has frequently reiterated her support for no-cash bail, asserting that it will eliminate racial and economic disparities in the court system, but she has also acknowledged that the legislation might stand to be improved.

The governor proposed a 10-point plan to improve the legislation in March, but she stated that she won’t seriously consider changing it until January, until after the midterm elections next week, so that we can gauge the true impact of our modifications.

Hudson thinks Hochul’s limited corrections are merely a diversion to appease those who violate the law.

In the weeks leading up to her death, Keaira asked authorities for assistance from her controlling husband, who had previously been convicted of kidnapping another ex-girlfriend under duress.

She uploaded an awful eight-minute video to Facebook in which she claims Adam repeatedly punched, kicked, and slapped her.

Only a handful of misdemeanor charges, including third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, were brought against Adam when he was taken into custody a week after the late-September incident.

The day before Keaira’s murder, Adam was let go.

The following morning, while Keaira was dropping off her three children—ages 6 months to 9 years—at school wearing a bulletproof vest— Adam ambushed her, police said.
