After many people posted about what they claimed to be gunshots on social media, chaos broke out at a Las Vegas airport.

There was no active shooter, according to a tweet from airport police stationed at Harry Reid International Airport.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Terminal 1 made a loud boom that scared nearby residents.

Authorities noted that a disruptive passenger was to blame.

They claim that the individual is presently in custody.

There is no threat to travelers or employees, the airport said in a statement that was later posted around 9 a.m. ET: “There is not an active shooter. There was an accidental discharge at the Airport. There is no danger to passengers or employees. An investigation is ongoing, more information will be published on this channel.”

Dramatic video has already surfaced, capturing the moment terrified passengers started running from gates.

One flyer claimed that as panic swept across the terminal, individuals were dumping their bags and attempting to rush past security.

Around 7:30 ET this morning, a person posted on social media, “Supposedly a shooter at the b gate at Las Vegas airport. I’m safe. Everyone rushed through the security gates. I don’t think we will be flying.” This is when the panic is said to have started.

A few minutes later, video showed a wave of travelers pouring past security in large numbers.

Alarms could be heard in the background as several people yelled and fled.

Then, a user shared a video of several individuals waiting for more information as they were all lying on the ground.
