The oppressive Biden Regime is still committed to waging war on law-abiding gun owners in spite of the US Constitution. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) of the Regime just announced a rule that will imprison millions of law-abiding gun owners because it was unsatisfied with the gun control triumph it received last year from Republican sell-outs.
According to Stephen Gutowski of The Reload, the ATF intends to reclassify pistol braces, a very common firearm accessory, in a way that would make them illegal unless registered with the agency. Anyone who disobeys could spend up to five years in jail.
Thanks to a new rule issued by the ATF, millions of Americans risk being charged with federal felonies for possessing firearms that were legally purchased.
On Friday, the agency said it would publish the final version of its rule reclassifying pistol braces, a common firearms attachment. Braces would be effectively prohibited from being worn unless registered with the ATF under the rule, which President Joe Biden proposed as part of his efforts to unilaterally modify gun rules.
Despite the agency’s repeated determinations that the braces were legal over the past ten years, violators of the rule might face up to ten years in federal prison.
According to the ATF’s regulation, “While firearms equipped with ‘stabilizing braces’ or other rearward attachments may be submitted to ATF for a new classification determination, a majority of the existing firearms equipped with a ‘stabilizing brace’ are likely to be classified as ‘rifles’ because they are configured for shoulder fire based on the factors described in this rule. Because many of these firearms generally have a barrel of less than 16 inches, they are likely to be classified as short-barreled rifles subject to regulation and registration under the [National Firearms Act (NFA)] and [Gun Control Act].”
