Nikki Haley Files Protection Request With Secret Service

Nikki Haley In DANGER? Serious Concerns!

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley formally requested for Secret Service security on February 5, according to a Wall Street Journal story. Her campaign staff reported an uptick in threats against Haley in the past few weeks. Despite the “multiple issues” she has been through recently, the former governor of South Carolina indicated in an interview with the newspaper that she will continue with her presidential campaign and verified the application for protection.

The Journal further reported that Haley’s protection had been requested by federal authorities. It also came to light that some in her presidential campaign are sceptical of the plan, fearing that stricter security measures may disrupt her campaign schedule and prevent her from traveling.

The newspaper reported that some political experts think her anti-Iran views as US UN ambassador are the reason she sought Secret Service Protection. The Iranian government has a notorious track record of carrying out brutal and murderous operations against any prominent people around the globe that they perceive as a political rival.

There have been a lot of mishaps at events that Haley has been to recently, on top of the Iranian threat. A lady attempted to rush the stage in Columbia, South Carolina, but was tackled by Haley’s security personnel. Because Haley has backed the governments of Israel and Ukraine in their respective wars, numerous groups have planned protests at her events.

Some sources state that the US Secret Service is not authorized to initiate candidate protection on its own and does not decide who is eligible for security. The US Department of Homeland Security secretary authorizes the service after meeting with a House advisory committee that includes the speaker and minority leader of the House, as well as the minority and majority leaders of the Senate.

Even while Haley’s support among Republicans has grown, former president Donald Trump is still widely considered to be the GOP frontrunner.
