FBI Seizes Cell Phone of Member of Congress Who Is Trump Ally

According to reports, the FBI searched President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for materials that the National Archives had requested. If they are breaking into the house of a former president to take data that they might have obtained by a subpoena, it is a shocking abuse of authority. Naturally, they were thus unable to embark on a haphazard fishing excursion in search of further items.

The FBI seems to be completely out of control, and anything that happened on Tuesday may be a sign that they are attempting to look outside the data kept by the National Archives.

Conservative House Freedom Caucus leader and close Trump associate Rep. Scott Perry (R–PA) claimed that the FBI had taken his smartphone.

“This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress. My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

As with President Trump last night, Perry said in his statement that the DOJ should have just contacted my counsel rather than taking this unneeded and aggressive step. Every citizen should be alarmed by these banana republic strategies, especially in light of Congress’s decision this week to add 87,000 extra IRS agents to the ranks of those who uphold the law.

By pursuing Perry, they are also pursuing another potent political rival of the Democrats. Additionally, Perry was the one who filed articles of impeachment against Merrick Garland, the attorney general, for lying about not suing parents in connection with school board demonstrations. If this is an act of retaliation against Perry, then raises still another query.

The FBI is silent and offering no justifications. Everyone on the right is much more furious as a result of the Perry move.
